BMS Senior VP and Head of Medical Affairs Dr. Tania Small
New York City-based pediatric oncologist, hematologist, and researcher Dr. Tania Small has served in senior roles in various organizations. Over her extensive career, Dr. Tania Small has made significant strides in the medical field.
Dr. Small is a board-certified physician with academic credentials from Albert Einstein College of Medicine, and Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital of New York/Columbia University. She has specialized in hematology, oncology, bone marrow transplantation, and genetic research.
Dr. Small is a member of a number of professional organizations, including the American Association for Cancer Research, American Society of Hematology, National Medical Association and the American Society of Clinical Oncology, which she serves as on their Membership Advisory Committee. Her contributions in her field include publications and drug development in hematology and oncology, sickle cell disease, pediatric stem cell transplantation and regenerative medicine. She believes in advocating for patients and involving them in their health care, and champions inclusive research and healthcare equity/access.
She has partnered closely with health authorities, patient advocacy groups, Congress and ASCO to improve the diversity of enrollment in clinical trials. Her contributions to research and dedication to developing sustainable solutions to improve healthcare have earned her teaching awards and research grants from NIH and the Irving Institute for Clinical and Translational Research as well as multiple accolades such as PharmaVoice Disrupters Award, the Diversity in Business Award from the Philadelphia Business Journal, and the Women of Color in Pharma Trailblazer Award.
